Shopping | Haul | River Island | Boots | New Look

On Monday me and my boyfriend, Ryan, went shopping together. Ry convinced me I deserved a treat and that I should use our money to get myself some new bits :). I went a bit crazy (not helped by Ry going ooh that's nice, ooh get that haha) in River Island, Boots and New Look. I thought I would make a wee post about what I got.

First we went into Boots and I knew that I wanted a couple of things that I had heard Estée from EssieButton talking about. I have similar skintone to her and really value her opinion as I have never tried anything that she has recommended and been disappointed! You should check her blog and youtube channel, she’s really lovely and funny!

I got the Rimmel Apocalips in the colour Luna which is a gorgeous peachy, orange/pink colour. I love it and have found that you can use a little bit with some clear lipgloss over the top for a more sheer effect or build the colour up on its own for a bright pop of colour that is still glossy. I definitely want to get more of the colours in this, especially Celestial, that just looks gorgeous but they didn’t have it in the Boots I was at (probably lucky!).

Also from Rimmel and also recommended by Estée, I got the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal eye pencil in the colour nude. I have really dark circles under my eyes which I think is a mix of being ill and genes as my Mum has them too, just not as dark. I struggle to brighten them up in the morning and I have heard that putting nude pencil on the waterline helps to do that. I haven’t tried it yet but as soon as I have I shall let you know how it goes!

This one is raved about by a lot of people so I really wanted to try it! It’s Rimmels’ (yes again!) Stay Matte Powder in transparent. This is a really light powder but it really does help to matte out the bits I don’t want to be shiny. I’ve only tried this once so therefore can’t give a proper review. What I might do is a joint review with the eyeliner aswell.

I already have quite a few of the Real Techniques brushes by Samantha Chapman of Pixiwoo and I love ‘em!! They are fab and I have noticed a massive difference in how my makeup applies since trying these. I want to build up my collection so that I have all of them if possible. I got 2 brushes to add to my collection this time, the Shading Brush and the Setting Brush. I thought it wise to buy the setting brush to go with my new powder and it is fab. I like to have a dewy look to my skin but obviously there are areas of the face where that just isn’t flattering. This is perfect for getting your powder exactly where you want it and nowhere you don’t. It’s the perfect size!

The Shading Brush is an eyeshadow brush, I got this to go with my Domed Shadow Brush. I love using that brush for my eyes but just wanted a second one to make it easier when I am using more than one colour. I would really recommend the Real Techniques brushes. They are brilliant and also dry really quickly when you wash them!.

Next we went into New Look which has soo much nice stuff in at the moment. I actually went in looking for some new boots but as they didn’t have any I liked, I decided to spend the money on lovely clothes.

I got this cute Aztec print t-shirt which I think would look good dressed up or down. Maybe with some leggings and boots or tucked into a plain black skirt. I got this in a bigger size so it’s slouchy and I can’t wait to wear it & experiment pairing it with stuff.

I decided to buy a black skater skirt to go with the aztec top and because I don’t actually have one! If you could see my wardrobe you would know why this is a shock (my wardrobe is massive and chocka) I like this one because even though it’s just a plain skirt the texture on it gives it a bit of something extra to make it less plain. I think this will be really versatile and will go with so much I already have in my wardrobe.

Ryan spotted this dip hem peplum top. My liver makes my tummy swell sometimes so peplum tops are perfect to cover it and I also like to wear things that are comfy but still fashionable. This is perfect for when I’m not feeling to good but still want to look ok. I like the fact it goes longer at the back so I can wear it with leggings and not worry about my Kimmy K bum. Good spot from Ry I think!

I got this belt to go with the aztec top and black skirt but it will be perfect to go with pretty much anything. I love studs on any item and really like how they instantly toughen up an outfit.

I’ve wanted to try a hair donut for ages. I’ve been growing my hair and I think it’s at the right length now to use one. I spend soo long doing buns in my hair and use thousands of hair grips at a time so I am hoping this donut will help cut that in half. It might take me a bit of time to master it but I hope I can do it! New Look sell these in different colours for different hair I got black as I have dark hair.

After New Look we went into River Island and I instantly thought of the dress on my wantworthy list . I made a beeline to the sale section in store and was over the moon when I spotted it for £15! It’s really lovely material, very thick and perfect for cold days with black tights. I love everything about it and for that price I couldn’t leave it, so off to the till I popped.

We then went into Costa for a drink. I love me some coffee but my Crohns doesn’t and I always have the worst pains after. My friend who also has Crohns had recommended Soya Milk to me ages ago but I wasn’t that keen so never gave it a go. Annyyyway when I was looking at the menu I noticed that Costa give you the option of having soya milk in your drink for free (some places actually charge extra!!! The cheek!) so I thought it was worth a go. Let me tell you it was the nicest caramel latte I have ever had AND no pain!! I headed straight to tesco to pick some up. I’ve been using Tescos FreeFrom Sweetened Soya Milk in every cup of tea and coffee now for a few days and it’s made such a difference. I’m really glad I tried this and discovered a gem but I do wish I had listened to my friend in the first place, typical me!

When we got home I had a parcel waiting for me (oops). Inside was a big bottle of the Bioderma Crealine H2O. This is a brilliant makeup  remover that is as gentle as water but gets rid of makeup like a boss. My skin is a little sensitive but this doesn’t disturb it at all. I really love it and will definitely be repurchasing. I have to mention the seller that I got it from on Ebay aswell (click here to go to seller), who was recommended by Vivianna Does Makeup (click here to read her blog post). I was really happy with the price and my product came really quick too so I would recommend buying from there. I do however hear that Bioderma is currently being launched in the UK so in time there may be better places to buy it from!

Soo, yeah, that is my massive haul I went a bit overboard but I feel good for it and am happy with everything I got. I do bet that Ryan wishes he never suggested it though haha!!
